Speaker Biography

Michael Mixter is GIS Coordinator for BP America’s North San Juan operating center in Durango, Colorado. He holds degrees in Geology and Computer Science and has been in the oil and gas industry for 27 years. After practicing geology for 15 years from the Gulf Coast to Prudhoe Bay, Mr. Mixter transitioned into the GIS world. He has worked in GIS over the past 12 years as employee and consultant for both the public and private sectors, and has developed local gathering system GISs for clients such as Amoco, Kinder Morgan, and JM Huber. This “recovering geologist” is a self-professed GIS enthusiast, and according to some, a true GIS evangelist.
